TWO Asda delivery drivers have been put forward for an award after going "above and beyond" for a customer who had major surgery.
Rosemary Cunningham, who lives in Dunbar, has been using the supermarket’s delivery service for her groceries since the Covid-19 pandemic prevented her from being able to shop in store.
And she was full of praise for Karen Campbell and Paul McCafferty, describing them as becoming “more than delivery people to me, I feel they have become friends”.
She said: “Recently I had to have major surgery and had to limit lifting and bending for several weeks.
“All the delivery people have always been helpful and professional – nothing is too much trouble.
“Two particular members of the Dunbar team have gone above and beyond to help me both physically and mentally over several weeks.
“Karen and Paul have become more than excellent delivery people to me, I feel they have become my friends.”
After returning home from hospital, Rosemary received gifts from her two favourite delivery drivers.
She said: “When I came out of the hospital, Karen brought me a lovely orchid with my order.
“This week, I had just been told that I will not be needing any further treatment when Paul delivered my order.
“He returned after finishing his work and gave me a lovely bouquet from Karen and himself.
"Thank you so much to the Dunbar delivery team.
“Karen and Paul have been outstanding.
“Nothing is ever too much trouble to them and I’m very grateful."
Now, the duo have been nominated for Asda Service Hero awards for their excellent customer service.
Paul, who has worked at Asda Dunbar for four years, said: "Rosemary is a lovely lady.
“I always have a chat with her and help her put her groceries away.
“When she told us she was having to go into hospital, we thought it would be nice for us to get her some flowers for when she got home.
"You get to know the folks quite well when you are out delivering.
“It's important to look after our older folk; that's how I was brought up."
