FOOTBALL fans are being given the chance to get closer to the action to cheer on their favourites.
Permission has been given to create a spectator area beside the pitch off Haddington’s Whittingehame Drive.
East Lothian Council approved its own proposals, which will see the spectator area created on the western side of the artificial surface.
The local authority received no objections from members of the public.
The planning officer said: “In their positioning alongside the existing pitch, pavilion and skatepark, the hardstanding, gates and fencing would not be of a size and scale, appearance or material that would harm the setting of the Haddington Conservation Area.”
