A TEENAGE motorcyclist narrowly missed a bus stop where members of the public were standing and drove through a children's play park during a shocking episode of driving.
Brandon Ferguson was riding an unregistered motorbike when he sped along Mid Road, West Loan and Preston Crescent in Prestonpans in an erratic manner.
Ferguson then performed u-turns in the road when it was unsafe to do so, drove through a red light signal and failed to stop at a give way sign.
The 19-year-old narrowly missed the bus stop full of people and drove through a children’s play park during his dangerous display of driving on November 26, 2022.
Police managed to pull the reckless motorcyclist over and he was arrested and charged with dangerous driving.
Ferguson, of The Granary, Haddington, pleaded guilty to the road traffic offence and to driving with no valid insurance during a hearing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court earlier this year.
Sentence had been deferred for social work reports and he returned to the dock for sentencing last Friday.
Sheriff Alistair Noble issued Ferguson with a community payback order where he will have to complete 120 hours of unpaid work.
Sheriff Noble also banned Ferguson from driving for 20 months and told him he must sit and pass the extended driving test before he is allowed back on the road.
A concurrent eight-month driving ban was also imposed for driving the motorcycle without insurance.
