A DRIVER who mounted a pavement and undertook a vehicle has escaped a road ban.
Andrew Dougal drove his car without due care and attention and, after performing the careless manoeuvre, then swerved between lanes on Newcraighall Road in Musselburgh.
Dougal, 62, was reported to the police for his erratic driving on April 5, 2022, and was later arrested and charged with dangerous driving.
The offence was reduced to one of careless driving when he pleaded guilty at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week.
The motorist, of the town’s Pinkie Avenue, was allowed to keep his licence and instead was sentenced to pay a fine of £580 and was handed five penalty points.
