EVERYTHING from ballet, opera and film to the music of popular conductor André Rieu will be screened as part of The Brunton’s line-up in the coming weeks.
The screenings take place at Loretto Theatre in Musselburgh as The Brunton remains closed following a roof survey.
Fans of popular classical violinist André Rieu can revel in his 2024 Maastricht concert The Power of Love next Saturday (August 31).
Accompanied by his world-famous Johann Strauss Orchestra and a cast of hundreds, his repertoire combines classical, musicals, pop and rock. Set against the backdrop of the historic Vrijthof square, the performance will feature iconic film scores, waltzes, ballads and chart hits.
The best of West End opera and ballet will also be brought to the big screen at Loretto Theatre.
The Royal Opera’s Marriage of Figaro is on Tuesday, September 10. The ballet Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland will be presented on Tuesday, October 15, as Christopher Wheeldon’s theatrical interpretation of the magical story takes to the stage.
Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) is back on screen with an encore of National Theatre Live’s Prima Facie on Wednesday, September 18. Written by Suzie Miller, Justin Martin directs this solo tour de force, captured live in 2022 during a sold-out run at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London’s West End.
National Theatre Live’s Present Laughter, Noël Coward’s comedy featuring Andrew Scott (Vanya, Fleabag) returns to the big screen on Wednesday, September 25. Filmed live from The Old Vic in London during a sold-out run in 2019, it is directed by Matthew Warchus (Matilda The Musical).
The Midweek Movies programme features new releases, with updates regularly posted on The Brunton’s website and social media channels.
Filmgoers can look forward to Fly Me To The Moon on Wednesday. A romantic comedy set against the high-stakes backdrop of NASA’s historic Apollo 11 moon landing, it stars Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum.
There is the chance to see the feel-good comedy drama Thelma with June Squibb on Wednesday, September 4. It tells the story of 93-year-old Thelma Post getting duped by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson and setting out on a quest across the city to reclaim what was taken from her.
Blake Lively, Justin Baldony and Jenny Slate star in It Ends With Us, which is the movie on Wednesday, September 11.
Adapted from the Colleen Hoover novel, Lily overcomes a traumatic childhood to embark on a new life. A chance meeting with a neurosurgeon sparks a connection but Lily begins to see sides of him that remind her of her parents’ relationship.
