FLOWERS, football and festivals are all on the agenda this weekend.
There is plenty going on from one end of East Lothian to the other, stretching from Musselburgh to Dunbar and Oldhamstocks.
So, if you are looking for something to do this weekend or trying to keep people entertained, why not consider one – or even some – of these activities?
1. Flower shows
Where is it? Gifford, Musselburgh, Oldhamstocks and Ormiston
What is it? Lots of horticultural fun
When is it? Saturday and Sunday
POTATO growing, a scarecrow gathering and lots and lots of fabulous flowers will be on display on Saturday.
Gifford Flower Show takes place in a marquee on the village green on Saturday from 1pm and Sunday from 11am.
In Musselburgh, the event is held in St Michael’s Church Hall, with doors opening to the public at 1pm.
Oldhamstocks Flower Show takes place from 1pm on Saturday and there is plenty of other attractions, including a dog show and children’s sports.
Finally, Ormiston Flower Show takes place at the village’s community centre and doors open at 1.30pm on Saturday.
2. Walk With Scott Charity Day/Makers Market
Where is it? Cockenzie House and Gardens, Cockenzie
What is it? Music, entertainment and refreshments
When is it? Saturday - Makers Market is 10am to 3pm; Walk With Scott Charity Day is noon to 9pm
A DAY of live music, entertainment and food trucks hopes to raise money for a local charity and community causes.
Walk With Scott Charity Day features a line-up of bands performing on the outdoor stage at Cockenzie House and Gardens.
Up-and-coming talent, as well as seasoned performers, will be entertaining attendees with live music from 2pm to 8pm.
Licensed bars will be serving from noon to 9pm, and a range of food options will be available from the Tuk-In Pizza van outdoors and Cafe Filly inside Cockenzie House.
3. Hops in the Garden
Where is it? Archerfield Walled Garden
What is it? A music and food festival
When is it? Saturday, from 1pm
LOCAL artists and groups will take to the stage in aid of Leuchie House.
The festival, now in its fifth year, will feature local ladies’ community choir Sister Sister, Midlothian-based Esk Valley Swing Band, and North Berwick Pipe Band.
There will also be a silent disco and face-painting, as well as plenty of food trucks to curb any hunger.
And, to top it all off, the event is raising funds for Leuchie House, Scotland’s national respite centre, to support people living with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s and motor neurone disease.
4. Football
Where is it? Ormiston
What is it? An all-East Lothian cup tie
When is it? Saturday, 2.30pm
ORMISTON Primrose and Musselburgh Athletic lock horns in the county village for the first time in more than quarter of a century.
The East of Scotland (Qualifying) Cup tie brings the two clubs together once again.
Ormiston are currently in the fourth tier of the East of Scotland Football League (EoSFL) while Musselburgh are pushing towards the top of the Premier Division.
The hosts will need to be at their very best to cause a cup upset.
Elsewhere in East Lothian, Haddington Athletic and Dunbar United are both at home.
5. Dunbar Monthly Food and Craft Market
Where is it? Lauderdale Park, Dunbar
What is it? A monthly food and craft market
When is it? Sunday, 10am to 3pm
STALLHOLDERS offering food, crafts and gifts will line a Dunbar park.
The town’s monthly food and craft market stops off in Lauderdale Park.
The Brand Family Larder, Barbarella Beets, Tyninghame Community Farm and The Print Wifey are among the small businesses heading to the market.
