A MUSSELBURGH man who assaulted a social worker has been jailed for more than two months.
Ben Vanhagen attacked Keith Sutherland by punching the man to the head during a meeting at an office on Shrub Mount in Edinburgh on January 23.
Vanhagen, of Delta Road, appeared from custody at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Thursday, where Sheriff John Cook sent him to prison for 77 days.
Vanhagen, 23, also pleaded guilty to two separate offences of acting aggressively towards staff at a Greggs store on Portobello High Street on May 3.
During the incident, he shouted and swore at staff members before police were called and he was placed in the back of a police van.
During the journey to St Leonard’s Police Station, Vanhagen punched and headbutted the inside of the vehicle and acted in an aggressive manner.
He also admitted assaulting a woman at the Shrub Mount offices by dragging her from the property, grabbing her by the hair and repeatedly punching her on the head and body to her injury on July 5.
Sheriff Cook deferred sentence on those charges to next month for the preparation of a psychological report.
