PUPILS returning to Dunbar Grammar School after the summer break have been reminded of the school’s uniform policy.
A letter has been sent to parents and carers outlining what is expected from youngsters when they return.
That includes skirts of an “appropriate length” and a reminder that black jeans are “acceptable but must not be ripped/torn”.
The letter reads: “We understand that most families will buy uniform over the summer holidays to be ready for our August start and we would like to issue guidance on items that are acceptable within our uniform policy. We will continue to have regular uniform checks when we return to ensure that all students maintain a high standard of uniform.
“Please support our school by purchasing acceptable items of school uniform and encourage your young person to wear them every day.”
Pupils are also encouraged to have school bags when attending school.
The letter continues: “We have noticed an increasing trend of students not bringing bags to school. A school bag is crucial to allow students to carry all their jotters, stationery, PE kit and personal items. I would like to... encourage all families to make sure their young person brings a bag to school every day.”
