YOUNGSTERS interested in taking up fly fishing are being offered the chance to try their hand at the activity.
East Lothian Angling Association is to start regular fishing tuition, with the aim of introducing fly fishing to young anglers.
The first session takes place on August 25, when there will be free fishing tuition for anyone aged 12-17.
The event takes place from 10am to noon in Haddington, and anyone interested in finding out more should meet at the town’s Poldrate Centre.
The session will offer people the chance to find out about river safety, the basic technique of casting, which flies to choose and knots to use, and the trout and the insects it feeds on.
All fishing equipment will be provided but anyone attending should bring a hat, sunglasses, warm and waterproof clothing, and sturdy footwear.
All participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian; for more information, email eastlothianaa@yahoo.com
