DRIVERS in East Lothian have been warned to expect "heavier" traffic in advance of next week's Scottish Open in East Lothain.
Thousands of spectators will be heading to The Renaissance Club, near Dirleton, as golf stars including Rory McIlroy and Matt Fitzpatrick tee off from next Thursday to next Sunday.
Traffic Scotland has notified drivers travelling to the The Renaissance Club between July 11 and 14 to anticipate an increase in traffic.
The A1 and A198 have been highlighted by the public body, with many of the surrounding local roads to be impacted by extra traffic.
They have also asked members of the public to consider active travel and public transport options.
Online, they said: "The Genesis Scottish Open takes place from Thursday , July11, to Sunday, July 14, at The Renaissance Club. Start times will vary throughout the course of the competition.
"We expect traffic to be heavier than normal on the A1 and the A198. Surrounding local routes may also be impacted with extra traffic.
"Please consider active travel and public transport options."
