HORSES have played a huge part in East Lothian’s history, as both work animals and for leisure.
These pages show the magnificent creatures in their roles ploughing the land, carrying police officers, taking part in galas, pulling the famous whale jawbone into place on North Berwick Law, at Musselburgh Racecourse and, of course, fording the Esk during the Musselburgh Festival
