Tamanfaya to play last ever gig at PJ Molloys in Dunfermline

The band are from Dunfermline and aim to go out on a high on Saturday night in front of their home crowd.

The announcement will come as a surprise to many following the release, just last week, of their latest single 'Ill At Ease'.

Tamanfaya were formed in 2019 by local lads Matt Philp and Aidan O'Hara when they were 16-years-old.

Covid hit as the band released their first two singles - 'Murky' and 'Who Knows Who' - in quick succession on Substation Records.

The line-up was completed by the addition of Danny O'Hara and Lois Duncan and they headlined at PJs last year.

Matt, the lead guitarist, explained: “Lois decided to step away from the band and, after much consideration, we’ve decided it’s the best time to close the door on Tamanfaya.

"We can’t thank enough everyone who has listened to our songs, turned up at our gigs and supported us over the years."

The band's last single was recorded at Substation in Rosyth and produced by Michael Brennan, who has produced some great bands including The Cure, The Jesus and Mary Chain and Snow Patrol.

Danny, who plays bass guitar, said: “We have always believed in the music we write.

“We pride ourselves on playing a great live set, which is why we would love people to come along one last time on May 4.

"Releasing our final single last week is also the icing on the cake for us and the perfect time to call it a day.”

The band will be supported by Big Issues and Lori Richards.
