A MAN who spat in his ex-partner's face and poured milk over her has been sentenced.

Corey Li, of Tudor Avenue in Rhostyllen, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court for sentence on Wednesday afternoon.

The 23-year-old had admitted assaulting Yasmin Galbon by beating her at a previous hearing.

Prosecutor Hannah Williams told the court that the defendant and victim had been in a ten year relationship and had two children together.

But the relationship ended around a year ago.

In December 2023, Li moved back into his ex-partner's home for a couple of days - but she asked him to leave due to his behaviour.

On December 13, he arrived at her home and said: "Open the door you fat c***," before entering through the back gate.

They encountered each other in the kitchen - where Li threw a baby bottle which struck her in the head.

He then followed her into the living room and spat in her face, then poured milk over her and left.

Ms Williams said Li had a previous conviction for battery against Ms Galbon in 2020.

A probation officer told the court: "He said on the day in question, he left the [victim's] property, went back to his own but it was locked up and he couldn't gain access so he went back to Yasmin's.

"He asked her to let him in because he had no where else to stay."

The officer said despite admitting his actions, Li still minimised the assault - claiming he "never hurt her."

"In some areas he does seem very mature but does lack maturity in others," the probation officer added.

Elzbeth Kenny, defending, made limited submissions after the court indicated a willingness to offer the defendant a package of probation intervention in the community.

She said: "This is a young man whose mental health has been on a downward trajectory to such a state that he hasn't even got any money to live on at the moment because of his tunnel vision."

Li received an 18-month community order with two requirements; namely 35 sessions on an accredited programme and 20 rehabilitation activity days.

He must also pay a £50 fine, £85 costs and a £114 victim surcharge.
