Navigating the city centre at the best of times is stressful, let alone on a dry payday weekend.

It's going to take a miracle to calm me down, I think, as I enter the 2,000 sq ft Lush flagship on Buchanan Street.

Past the colourful bath bomb displays and wafts of perfumed vegan products, I head up to the top floor to try The Highlands treatment at the spa, which opened on March 1.

The brand-new Lush Spa offers 12 different treatments across four single and two double rooms.

Common areas are painted in rich oranges and yellows, furnished with mid-century pieces and piled with plants.

Glasgow Times:

The rooms, named after various birds, are bathed in different colours of light, presumably to correspond with whatever treatment is administered within.

The Highlands treatment that I'm here to experience is inspired by, you guessed it, the Scottish Highlands.

The 60-minute full-body hot stone massage begins with a cup of spring water before my therapist (who designed the treatment) Jody asks me to select three stones from a fabric bag.

The stones are 250 million-year-old Scottish marble, carved with ancient symbols that correspond to varying states of mind, she says.

Glasgow Times:

The one I decided to take with me to the treatment is The Alignment Marker, meant to suggest I need more confidence. I couldn't find any trace of the ancient stone symbols after scouring the web when I got home, but the advice still rings true.

Inside the treatment room is bathed in blue light and scented with delicate Furze incense smoke.

The massage, using an oil bar infused with mugwort, is choreographed to a bespoke Gaelic soundtrack by Julie Fowlis and Ewen Henderson. It's intentionally louder than a typical massage to 'guide you towards inner wisdom and peace'.

The treatment ends with a warm tea infused with Heather to help you leave feeling comfortable and relaxed.

Sipping tea, I enjoy the view outside. It's serene, high enough on Buchanan Street to enjoy the architecture while overlooking the bustle below.

Glasgow Times:

I am relaxed, and zen, and would be keen to return and test out the other treatments offered at the Lush Spa.

While I enjoyed the experience entirely, my jaw dropped when I saw the £150 price tag. The Lush Spa may well be the spendiest in town (Blythswood included).
