NEW headteachers have been appointed at county primary schools.
Pupils at Ormiston Primary School have already welcomed a new headteacher, while youngsters at Loretto RC Primary School in Musselburgh will have someone new following the Christmas break.
Sarah Morgan, who was the headteacher at Pencaitland Primary School, has moved on to lead neighbouring Ormiston Primary School.
She has taken on the role after Helen Gardyne moved to take on the same position at Haddington Primary School.
Meanwhile, Lorna McCallum will become headteacher at the Musselburgh school in January.
The school’s previous headteacher, Margaret-Anne McBean, retired in February and the school has since been led by Alex Buchanan, who has been in an acting headteacher position alongside his substantive role as headteacher at St Gabriel’s in Prestonpans.
Mrs McCallum is currently acting headteacher at Edinburgh’s St Margaret’s RC Primary School.
A spokesperson for East Lothian Council said: “Having schools with differing profiles gives headteachers opportunities to move within our authority area and further develop their career in a new school community, while also attracting people to join East Lothian.
“As a relatively small but growing education authority, we are fortunate to have headteachers and school leaders who are ambitious for our learners and we look forward to working with all of the colleagues in their new roles.”
A permanent successor to Mrs Morgan is yet to be appointed at Pencaitland Primary School.
Debby Crossan has been seconded to acting headteacher while Sheona Skinner is overseeing Humbie and Saltoun along with Longniddry, where she is headteacher.
A new headteacher is yet to be appointed at North Berwick’s Law Primary School.
