A HADDINGTON motorist has escaped a driving ban after admitting driving his car carelessly on the A1.
Andrew Gilpin, 58, repeatedly tailgated a vehicle and repeatedly flashed his lights during the incident on September 29, 2019.
Gilpin also drove his vehicle into the path of the vehicle driven by Colin McIver on the A1 southbound near to a junction at Haddington.
Gilpin was initially charged with dangerous driving but pleaded guilty to a reduced careless driving offence at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Thursday.
Sheriff Adrian Fraser fined Gilpin, of Hawthornbank Road, £290 and placed seven penalty points on his driving licence
