Volunteers from around North Berwick have united to beautify the town in preparation for the Keep Scotland Beautiful awards.
The awards judges visited the town last Friday to meet volunteers from North Berwick in Bloom and tour the town.
Little was revealed of the judges’ thoughts on the tour, with groups from throughout the country learning their fate on September 8 when the competition winners are announced.
The judges started at the Scottish Seabird Centre, before visiting the harbour, Coastal Communities Museum, Lodge Grounds, High Street and railway station, before finishing at the Glen with guidance from East Lothian Council’s Countryside Rangers and a tree officer.
Libby Morris, chair of North Berwick in Bloom, said: “The amenity team from East Lothian Council have produced wonderful displays in the Lodge and war memorial, and were busy on the day making sure everything was tidy. ”
Provost and councillor John McMillan was also in attendance, alongside local councillor Carol McFarlane.
Libby added: “The theme for this year is health and wellbeing, which is demonstrated in the High Street planters with vegetables and herbs and story boards. In addition, North Berwick in Bloom gave guided walks to see coastal flowers and specialist beds in the Lodge. The plants used in the colourful displays were all grown in East Lothian Council’s nursery.”
