THOUSANDS of pounds are being raised in Haddington for Christian Aid.
More than £2,000 has already been raised for the cause, while a house and garden sale takes place throughout next week.
A spokesperson for the Haddington Christian Aid group noted that a quiz night was held in February before a drop-in café the following month.
He said: “We have launched the annual Christian Aid paper cryptic quiz and copies are still available in the churches to challenge your brain.
“Small change boxes continue to give a valuable stream of donations.
“So, up to the start of Christian Aid Week our total for this year was £1,312.
“We were honoured to have Val Brown, the new head of Christian Aid Scotland, as our guest speaker at Haddington Churches Joint Service for Christian Aid Week.
“There was a retiring collection for Christian Aid which raised £1,188.”
The house and garden sale of paintings and books takes place at 35 Dunbar Road from Monday to next Friday (June 9), 3-7pm.
A sponsored walk is also being planned for September 16.
