Two offenders will appear at court from custody after both failed to attend for sentencing last week.

Samantha McFarlane, 32, skipped her court date last Wednesday after she had previously pleaded guilty to a charge of breaching a bail order not to contact her former partner.

McFarlane, of Crewe Terrace, Edinburgh, breached the court order not to contact Lewis Sives imposed on July 4 last year by repeatedly contacting the man at an address at Westbank Terrace, Macmerry, between August 16 and 18 last year.

Her sentence had been deferred for her to be of good behaviour; but when the case called for sentencing last week, the court was told she was not in attendance.

Sheriff Fiona Tait issued a non-appearance warrant for her immediate apprehension.

The following day, Nicholas Cochrane, of Drummore Drive, Prestonpans, was due to appear before Sheriff Alistair Noble for sentencing after he had admitted to a theft offence.

Cochrane previously pleaded guilty to stealing money and goods from a home in the town on Christmas Day in 2019.

Again the 34-year-old was due to be sentenced last Thursday but failed to show up, resulting in the sheriff issuing a warrant for his arrest.
