ALMOST 300 trees have been planted in Longniddry to mark the Queen’s Green Canopy.
The trees were planted on a green space in the grounds of the Glassel Park estate, in the form of a mini woodland.
The small whips acquired from the Woodland Trust are a selection of native trees and include rowan, hazel, wild cherry and silver birch.
The Glassel Park Association was ably assisted in its planting by a group of schoolchildren from the village’s primary school.
The youngsters also placed name tags from all the pupils in the school next to all the trees.
A resident from the area made a wooden plaque which was placed in front of the mini wood.
The Queen’s Green Canopy was set up to create a living legacy during Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.
The initiative was extended following her death last year.
