A PRESTONPANS man who broke into a Midlothian freight business must pay compensation to the firm.
David Armstrong, of Gardiner Road, stole a quantity of cash after illegally entering the Freight Express premises in Penicuik on February 15, 2020.
Armstrong appeared for sentencing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Wednesday after he was previously found guilty of the offence following a trial.
Sheriff Matthew Auchincloss placed 39-year-old Armstrong on a community payback order consisting of six months supervision and an unpaid work order of 150 hours.
The sheriff also ordered him to pay £610 in compensation to the company.
