A MUSSELBURGH motorist injured himself and his passenger after he crashed an off-road motorcycle.
Daniel Thompson collided with a vehicle as he travelled on the A198 between Tranent and Cockenzie one night in December 2020.
Thompson, 20, was riding the unregistered Mini Moto at excessive speeds, without lights and without wearing any high-visibility clothing.
He also drove the bike into the path of an oncoming car and crashed into it, causing his pillion passenger to be thrown from his vehicle.
The crash saw Thompson and his male passenger suffer injuries.
Thompson, of North High Street, appeared for sentencing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Tuesday after he had previously pleaded guilty.
Sheriff Douglas Keir issued a community payback order whereby Thompson will have to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work in the community.
He was also banned from driving for 12 months and told he must pass the extended driving test before he is allowed back on the road.
Thompson admitted to various driving offences committed at Ormiston Road, Tranent, and on the A198 on December 20, 2020.
