A Prestonpans lout who assaulted his former partner has been ordered to stay away from his victim for the next 12 months.

Craig McFarlane, 35, repeatedly seized ex-girlfriend Lynne Duncan on the body to her injury during an unsavoury incident at an address in the town last year.

McFarlane, of Gardiner Road, appeared for sentencing at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last Wednesday after he had pleaded guilty to the attack at an earlier hearing.

Sheriff Douglas Keir sentenced the offender to a community payback order consisting of unpaid work and supervision.

The sheriff told McFarlane he would have to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and placed him under the supervision of the local social work deportment for the next year.

McFarlane was also handed a non-harassment order where he is not allowed to have any type of contact with Ms Duncan for the next 12 months.

McFarlane pleaded guilty to assaulting Lynne Duncan by repeatedly seizing her on the body to her injury at an address at Summerlee, Prestonpans, on April 5 last year.
