Tranent’s public toilets have reopened with a new daily closure time of 4pm after being vandalised last week.

East Lothian Council closed the facilities on Thursday last week (April 27) after the toilets had been set on fire and doors damaged last Wednesday evening.

The toilets have now reopened with a new closing time of 4pm as opposed to 6pm until further notice.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We have been made aware of a small fire at public toilets on Lindores Drive, Tranent, which is believed to have taken place on Wednesday, 26 April, 2023. Enquiries into the matter are ongoing.”
