A TEENAGE thief carried out raids on several properties in Inveresk and Carberry over a four-month period.

Lewis McKinnon broke into garden sheds and made off with items including a quad bike, gardening tools and two chainsaws.

The 19-year-old was also caught resetting goods that had previously been stolen.

McKinnon appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week to admit his guilt to eight charges of stealing property and resetting goods, committed between April and July 2021.

The court heard the teenager also made off with items including gardening equipment, two chainsaws, a garden hose and a quantity of hand tools from the properties.

And on one occasion McKinnon, of Dean Court, Whitecraig, managed to get away with a quad bike taken from a property at Carberry Courtyard.

The reset goods included a quantity of clothing and sets of keys.

McKinnon pleaded guilty to eight offences and had not guilty pleas to four further theft allegations accepted.

Sheriff Flinn released McKinnon on bail and deferred sentence for the preparation of background reports.

McKinnon admitted six charges of stealing property belonging to another from various addresses in Inveresk and Carberry between April 9 and July 27 last year.

He also pleaded guilty to two offences of reset committed at his home address on May 31 last year.
