AN ACE donation is helping Dunbar Table Tennis Club to cope with an expanding membership.

Originally a small group of players, the club, which plays three nights a week, has experienced dramatic growth in recent months.

The non-profit organisation has been backed by Community Windpower through BeGreen Dunbar with a donation of £2,500.

The money will buy three new tables, as well as bats and balls.

Neil Patterson, a representative of the club, which meets in the town’s Bleachingfield Centre, was delighted with the donation.

He said: “On behalf of all members, we would like to say thank you to BeGreen Dunbar and Community Windpower for the very generous donation.

“The money has given us financial security for the future and will be used to buy new equipment to support both adult and junior players.”

Anouska Woods, BeGreen Dunbar community co-ordinator, expressed her love of table tennis.

She said: “Dunbar Table Tennis Club is an incredibly fun and inclusive space to relax, chat and get some exercise. As an organisation passionate about developing grassroots sports and local communities, we are delighted to be providing funding to assist with this club’s growth.”
