A blogger captured some stunning images of the Northern Lights over Longniddry on Sunday evening.
Shaun Alexander, from Portobello, runs a blog named Dreaming of Scotland which is dedicated to Scottish culture and history.
He was driving home from Edinburgh when he got a notification from the Northern Lights Now app, which alerts when and where the lights may be seen from.
He said: “I wasn't expecting to see them at all - firstly because with the light skies appearing in late April, it's usually too light to see the lights, and also with heavy cloud cover it seemed like a long shot.
"Nonetheless, my wife and I headed out to Longniddry, arriving by the beach at 11pm.
“We waited for 30 minutes with nothing but thick clouds - then from nowhere, the skies cleared and we were treated to this spectacular show!
“It was one of the best I've ever seen in Scotland. And then we even saw what appeared to be a 'face' of a woman. It was a truly remarkable sight - maybe this is what they mean by 'lady' aurora!”
The aurora borealis is a natural light display, which occurs when charged particles collide with the Earth's upper atmosphere at a very high speed, creating patterns of bright colourful lights in the sky.
The lights can often be seen in East Lothian in Musselburgh, East Linton and Port Seton as well as many other parts of the county.
Shaun wrote a piece on his blog detailing the conditions and locations that are best for seeing the lights.
