A TEAM of de-cluttering experts have helped transform the winner of a popular BBC television programme’s home.

Meryl Williams shared a six-figure prize with two fellow contestants on The Traitors, which was aired in the run up to Christmas.

Now, LIFE/EDIT have helped change her home in Haddington to make it easier for Meryl, who has achondroplasia, a type of dwarfism, to access everyday items.

Zoe Berry, founder of the Portobello-based business, and her team visited Meryl at the end of last month.

The former Ross High School pupil described the alterations as “life changing” and said it was about much more than just being tidy.

She said: “When I moved in over two years ago, my mum and gran put everything where it would make sense for them, things like glasses up high and that sort of thing.

“Zoe came in and ‘what we need to do is make it work for you’.

“Everything is easy, reachable and everything makes sense.

“It is such a difference and easy to find things now.”

Over three days, staff at LIFE/EDIT transformed her kitchen, utility room and bedroom to create “a clutter-free home for a calmer state of mind”.

Zoe said: “Meryl said it was life-changing, which is lovely.

“A lot of people do say that to us but that never stops being lovely.

“It is way more than just tidying and we listen to the client to make their house a haven, rather than stressful.

“Meryl thinks all of her friends should do it and she keeps going round the house and discovering little bits and pieces that she thinks are genius.

“For Meryl and everyone else, it is about making the house somewhere they want to come home to.”

Twenty-six-year-old Meryl, who left her role as a customer service agent with H&M after appearing on The Traitors, dreams of presenting her own television show – Minutes with Meryl.

Meryl’s condition means she has short legs and arms but an average-sized torso.

Zoe and her team worked to ensure the home was ideally suited for both Meryl and her mum, Heather, who is a regular visitor.

Meryl explained how much of a difference the changes in the property had made to both of their lives.

She said: “It puts your life in order.

“It makes every single day task so much more easy, like you’re not spending an extra 10 minutes trying to find something.

“It is literally all there and I’ve learnt a lot of things now that I didn’t realise to put things in different ways or like to categorise things and then you realise ‘oh my God, that makes things so much more easy’.”
