A SUCCESSFUL author and storyteller who spent her childhood travelling across Scotland on an old blue bus is visiting East Linton.
Jess Smith will stop off at the village’s senior citizens’ club on April 28.
Born in Perthshire, Jess spent much of her childhood travelling the country with her parents and seven sisters.
Her parents took on whatever work was available on farms, with the children getting involved during berry and potato-picking seasons.
Her three autobiographical books – Jessie’s Journey, Tales From The Tent and Tears For A Tinker – chart her life from childhood until she stopped being a traveller.
A spokesperson for the club was looking forward to the event in East Linton Community Hall at 7pm.
They said: “I have enjoyed reading Jess Smith’s books and am really looking forward to meeting her and hearing some stories, poems and songs from her life.”
The event is free for members and £2 for members of the public. Tickets can be bought on the door or from East Linton Library.
