AN AWARD-WINNING Musselburgh pub is toasting success once again after being named Lothians Pub of the Year 2023 at the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) awards for the second year in a row.

Staggs (The Volunteer Arms), on North High Street, has won many CAMRA accolades and was delighted that its winning streak continued again this year.

A framed certificate will be handed over to licensee Nigel Finlay.

Pat Hanson, chairman of CAMRA Edinburgh and South East Scotland, said: "Once again, we are pleased to be presenting the Pub of the Year (Lothians) award to Nigel Finlay and his team at Staggs.

"The impressive display of previous CAMRA awards on the walls of the pub is a testament to the consistency of beer quality, friendly service and community spirit shown by Staggs over the years."

The runner-up was the Dean Tavern, Newtongrange, while the Grey Horse in Balerno was third.

Staggs won the Pub of the Year title in the Lothians last year and in 2020. It also scooped best pub in Scotland and Northern Ireland for the third time in 2018, and Pub of the Year for the UK in 1998.

Staggs, also known as The Volunteer Arms, has been run by the same family since 1858.
