ROADWORKS will force the closure of a busy section of the A1 for five nights.

Traffic Scotland has confirmed that resurfacing works will take place on the eastbound lanes between the Thistly Cross and Spott roundabouts, near Dunbar.

The works take place between 7.30pm and 6am from today (Monday) to Friday.

Traffic will be diverted off the A1 between Thistly Cross Roundabout and Broxburn Junction via the A199 then onto the A1087 towards Summerfield Road then to Queens Road before going back to the A1087.

The diversion will add approximately five miles and 12 minutes to affected journeys.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “The surfacing improvements will help to address any defects on this section of the A1.

“We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience while we carry out this project.

“We will do all we can to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.”
