LIVE music will again fill venues throughout Haddington after it was confirmed that a music and arts festival would return to the town.

Haddstock takes place on May 27 and 28, with about 90 musicians performing in venues throughout Haddington.

Rebecca Dover, director of the festival, which launched in 2017, was looking forward to building on the success of last year’s event.

She encouraged people to save the date and told the Courier that planning was already well under way.

She said: “Haddstock is a community music and arts festival.

“We fill the town’s cafes and bars with live music, and more than ever we are working with community groups and local organisations and schools.

“We are working with schools on music projects, we have a regional battle of the bands and school performances.

“This year, there is an arts trail which highlights community groups and organisations.”

Before the festival – which is supported by East Lothian Council, Haddington and Lammermuir Area Partnership, Common Good Fund, Rotary and Lamp of Lothian, and sponsored by Stewart Milne Homes and Belltower – a quiz and open mic night takes place on May 26.

Entry to the performances is free of charge, with musicians relying on public donations, either by cash or card.
