RESIDENTS will get the chance to have their say on plans for an energy storage facility.
EastCoastGridServices Ltd is hosting consultation events at Innerwick Village Hall (Tuesday, 3-8.30pm) and Dunbar’s Bleachingfield Centre (Wednesday, noon-5pm).
The facility is proposed for land next to the East Coast Main Line, near Linkshead Farm, south of Thorntonloch.
The site, says the company, was chosen for its “unobtrusive location and proximity to ScottishPower’s Branxton substation with its future connections to the national grid and large windfarms offshore in the North Sea”.
It added: “The facility is expected to have a capacity of over 50 megawatts, to assist a transition to renewable energy by allowing effective storage of energy from surplus supply and grid balancing.”
