A SCHEME to help police return stolen bikes to their owners is being rolled out across East Lothian this weekend.
Bicycles are marked with a unique identifier, which is added to a national database.
If a bike is stolen, it can then be traced back to its original owner.
It is also hoped that it makes bikes a less attractive option for potential thieves in the first place.
Members of the public are encouraged to bring their bike and a mobile phone to North Berwick Police Station (10am to noon) and Gullane Community Children’s Hub (12.30pm to 2pm) on Saturday.
The following day, officers will be at The Mart in East Linton from 10.30am to noon, and Dunbar Police Station from 12.30pm to 2pm.
