SCOTLAND'S top bowlers defeated defending champions England today to win the Gents International Series at Abbeyview IBC in Dunfermline.

East Lothian quartet Alex Marshall, Billy Mellors, Derek Oliver and Scott Kennedy were all in action as Scotland, having beaten Ireland and Wales in their first two games, faced England in the final game knowing that victory would seal the title for the first time since 2014.

And they prevailed 119-104 after wins on four of the six rinks.

The rinks the county quartet were playing on suffered narrow defeats on the day but victories elsewhere secured the win, the highlight being a thumping 20-9 win by Colin Walker's rink.

Scotland held a narrow 100-92 lead with three ends to play but finished strongly to pull away to victory.
