A WOMAN has been taken to hospital following a collision between a car and a lorry near the Bankton Junction of the A1 by Tranent.

The incident took place at about 1.40pm this afternoon on the A198 overbridge that crosses the A1.

The woman was taken to hospital for treatment but there are no details yet regarding her injuries.

The driver of the lorry was uninjured.

Officers remain on the scene and the A198 overbridge remains closed to traffic in both directions.

The A1 remains open.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said:“Around 1.40pm on Thursday, March 16, police were called to a two-vehicle road crash, involving a car and a lorry on the A198 overbridge at the Bankton Junction, Tranent.

“One woman, from the car, has been taken to hospital. No details on any injury.

“The driver of the lorry was not injured.

“Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are continuing.”
