A fresh weather warning for snow will be in place this evening across some of East Lothian.

The Met Office have issued a yellow weather warning for snow from 4pm this evening until 4am tomorrow morning.

The warning will impact the central and western parts of the county with the east and north of the county unaffected by the warning.

It is warned that some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times expected by road, bus and train services.

The warning on the Met Office website reads: “Spells of snow are expected to develop Wednesday late afternoon and early evening, mainly in areas above 100m to 200m.

“Later on Wednesday evening and during Thursday early hours this snow will then turn to rain as milder weather conditions spread across the British Isles.

“Meanwhile, below 100m to 200m, snow may fall briefly during the late afternoon and early evening before turning to rain.

“Snow accumulations will be mainly in areas above 200m to 300m with several centimetres of snow falling in some places, especially in Scotland, and above 400m more than 10cm of snow is possible in places.”

Further details on what areas are impacted by the warning and how to stay safe in snowy conditions can be found on the Met Office website.
