David Forrest has stepped down from his role as vice-chairman of Tranent and Elphinstone Community Council.

Mr Forrest served as vice-chairman of the community council in 2014, before taking over as chairman in 2015.

He served in that role until October 2021, when he was replaced by current chairman Mike Falconer.

Mr Forrest resumed the role of vice-chairman until revealing at January’s community council meeting that he would be stepping down.

Mr Forrest said: “I have really enjoyed my time as vice-chair and thanks to everyone who has supported me during this time.

“But I feel now is the right time to step down.”

Mr Forrest nominated member Neil Ellis to take over the role, which Mr Ellis accepted.

Mr Falconer said: “I would like to publicly thank Davie for all his work over the years as my vice-chair.

“Davie was chair when I joined the community council and has been an integral part of the team here.

“He has really helped me do the job I have done and the community council would not be the same without him.”

Mr Forrest will remain a member of the community council.
