A street sign in Blindwells has gained notoriety after residents noticed it had been spelt incorrectly.

Hoprig Avenue is situated on the north side of the development, on a section of the site built by Cruden Homes.

The road has signs at both ends:  one is spelt correctly but the other says "Hoprig Aveune".

Blindwells is one of the the flagship developments of Hargreaves Land, which is creating a 'new town' with future facilities such as shops and a primary school.

The site is expected to have 1,600 homes in total in its first phase, with further land expected to be expanded into in the future.

Many families have already moved into the newly built homes, which have been constructed by a range of housing developers with 60 having been acquired by East Lothian Council as social rented accommodation.

It’s unclear who was responsible for the signage error, but East Lothian Council confrimed that in private developments it is the developers that are responsible for the signage.

A spokesperson for Cruden Homes said: "This mistake is being rectified with a new sign currently in production and expected shortly."
