A Musselburgh mum has voiced her frustration after her partner’s “pride and joy” motorbike was allegedly stolen by a group of youths in Musselburgh.

Hollie Aris, 24, reported the bike, a 66 plate KSR TW, stolen on Monday evening from the Goose Green Road area of Musselburgh after allegedly seeing it taken by a group of boys.

Miss Aris lives at home with her partner Ty McDonald and three children aged six, one and five months.

Miss Aris said: “It’s my partner’s bike.

“He got home from work, heard a funny noise from the front of our flat and saw a group of boys taking it.

“They took the bike from outside our property and drove it over the Electric Bridge next to our house. Witnesses saw them taking the bike over Campie Bridge past the rugby club towards Stoneyhill.

“There were three boys in balaclavas who came on two bikes, possibly a moped and a dirt bike.

“They stopped either side of the bike as one boy jumped on. They’ve used their two bikes to drive the bike away, so no engine on or key was needed.

“My partner usually has a lock on his bike at night but had only stopped in to play with our children before he was heading back out again.

“We have been given information from a few different people regarding a couple of boys, and some screenshots of a group chat where they’re talking about the bike and it being stolen.

“The outcome we are obviously most hopeful for is we get the bike returned in a reasonable state.

“But unfortunately when it comes to bikes, it could have been stripped down for parts or to add more parts to make it unrecognisable, or been dumped somewhere after a joy ride.

“It’s a very hard time as my partner has had his pride and joy for five years. He has put his blood, sweat and tears into rebuilding it, maintaining it, and all for it to be gone in a split second.

“It’s what upsets me about this ‘young team’, as they’re so emotionally immature to not understand the amount of effort, time and mental strength that has went into projects like this and it happens all the time in Musselburgh.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of the theft of a motorbike from a premises on Goose Green Road, Musselburgh, around 8pm on Monday, 30 January, 2023.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 3242 of 30 January, 2023.”
