THE Prestongrange Gothenburg in Prestonpans gave its eager patrons a sneak peak at refurbishment works taking place ahead of its grand reopening next Saturday (February 4).
The Goth temporarily closed on January 1 after the previous tenants declared that the “spiralling cost of living” meant continuing to trade was “no longer viable” for them.
It was announced last October that Patrick Cairney – manager of the Linton Hotel in East Linton – would take on the management, stressing that he would bring a “fresh impetus” to one of Prestonpans’ most iconic locations.
The team posted images of a blue tartan carpet and a rejuvenated staircase on Facebook ahead of the pub’s return.

Members of the team said on Facebook: “We are working hard to be your lovely local hub once more; we think it is taking shape.
“We hope you’ll like the changes.
“See you all soon.”
Mr Cairney has won acclaim for the food at the Linton Hotel – a success he is looking to emulate at the Goth.
The pub is set to reopen next Saturday, with a full food menu available from the following day.
