ONE of Scotland’s musicians to watch performs at West Barns Village Hall next weekend.

Ross Wilson, also known as Blue Rose Code, is the latest musician stopping off in the county as part of Scotland on Tour.

The nationwide initiative, which began in April last year, is supporting hundreds of concerts and performances at arts centres, town halls and community venues throughout the country.

More than a dozen musicians have already performed in West Barns Village Hall through the scheme.

Mr Wilson said: “It’s fantastic to be getting out and playing live music again.

“This initiative is such a brilliant opportunity to get out on the road.”

Originally from Edinburgh, the musician spent many years in England before returning north of the Border.

He began to develop connections with other Scottish artists to produce the sounds he is now renowned for.

Alan Gray, booking co-ordinator at West Barns Village Hall, was looking forward to welcoming the musician next Saturday (January 28).

The project, which has been created and managed by Active Events, was made possible by £750,000 of Scottish Government backing and will focus on increasing the number of opportunities to showcase and enjoy live music, while bringing exciting acts to the doorstep of a variety of communities.

Mr Gray said: “Having artists of this calibre, who have just supported The Proclaimers and are playing Celtic Connections, would have been unthinkable for us before the Scotland on Tour initiative.”
