MORE than a dozen drivers have been warned about speeding on a busy Haddington street during an hour-long police check.

Community officers were on the town’s Pencaitland Road on Tuesday (January 17) from 12.30pm.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland confirmed 15 drivers were spoken to and given a warning as per the Lord Advocate’s guidelines.

They said: “The roads around the county are particularly bad at the moment, so we would encourage drivers to be more aware of their surroundings and drive accordingly.

“Regular checks will continue over the coming weeks and months.”

On the same day, officers visited the town’s Victoria Road.

Vehicles are banned from the street, along with Wemyss Place and Neilson Park Road, during drop-off and pick-up times for the neighbouring primary schools.

A ticket was issued to a member of the public for breaching the traffic order.

Motorists, with exceptions, are banned from the three streets between 8.30-9.30am and 3-4pm Monday to Thursday.

On Fridays, vehicles are banned 8.30-9.30am and 11.45am-12.45pm.
