The birth of Scotland’s national bard Robert Burns will be celebrated at the Mercat Grill in Whitecraig next Saturday (January 27).

A traditional Burns Night will be held in association with Kilchoman Distillery, from the Isle of Islay.

It will be the first event in 2023 for the local bar and restaurant, which holds 350 varieties of whisky.

Owner Graham Blaikie said: “We will welcome in 2023 with a real shindig for Burns Night.

“We’ll have a superb evening lined up, with a full Burns supper lovingly created by our talented chef from fine, local produce and a few drams from Islay’s traditional farm distillery Kilchoman.

“These wonderful distillers have revived the process of traditional farm distilling, standing alone as Islay’s only single farm single malt Scotch whisky, produced at Kilchoman from barley to bottle.”

Tickets are £30pp in advance (£35pp on the day). The Burns Night starts at 7pm. To book, call 0131 665 3354 or email info@mercatgrill.com

The premises are currently closed until Wednesday for a kitchen refurbishment.
