A TRANENT funeral directors handed out 1,000 selection boxes to groups during the festive period as thanks for their services.

Tranent Co-op Funeralcare received the sweet treats from Alexander Brown of Ideal Flooring Solutions and Kevin McCabe at 7plus7 Construction and Maintenance Ltd, as well as other members of the community.

The boxes were then delivered to care homes and residential care facilities, including Haddington Care Home and Tyneholm Stables Care Home, in Pencaitland.

Boxes were also given to the Scottish Ambulance Service, Police Scotland and East Lothian Community Hospital.

Lee Rollo Stewart, funeral director, said: “I want to thank Alexander Brown and Kevin McCabe for their generous donations. We couldn’t have made the deliveries we did without them.

“The selection boxes were just a wee gesture to all those amazing services that work so hard over the year in East Lothian.

“It was fantastic to hand them out to these deserving groups.”

Lynn Brown, from Tyneholm Stables Care Home, said: “Thank you so much from all our residents at Tyneholm Stables. We wish everyone a merry Christmas.”
