Preston Lodge 6 Lasswade 14

Preston Lodge suffered a narrow defeat at home to Lasswade in Tennent’s National League Division Two as they slipped to ninth in the table.

Difficult conditions underfoot made for a scrappy opening to proceedings, with neither side threatening the scoreboard until about the 25th minute.

The visitors would make the breakthrough as Stephen Hunter crossed the whitewash and Matty Smith added the extras.

A few minutes later, PL got on the scoreboard as Scott Clark tucked away a neat penalty to reduce the deficit to 7-3.

The scores would stay the same until the break and PL would be given an opportunity 10 minutes into the second half when Swade was sent to the bin.

Clark added three points from the resultant penalty, leaving all to play for in the final 30 minutes.

However, on the hour mark, Lasswade pulled further ahead, Dale Robertson touching down. Smith again added the conversion to give the visitors a vital eight-point lead.

For the final 20 minutes, PL were unable to fight back, allowing the Midlothian outfit to climb above them in the table with the key away victory.

PL travel to fourth-placed Peebles on Saturday looking to get back to winning ways.
