Water levels at the River Esk in Musselburgh are expected to peak this afternoon after heavy rainfall hit the county today.
East Lothian Council has confirmed it is continuing to monitor the situation and is prepared with sandbags for any flooding.
A council spokesperson said: “The council and key partners continue to monitor conditions including river levels following this morning’s heavy rainfall.
“While some further rain is expected, it’s hoped conditions will continue to improve as the afternoon goes on.
“Water levels at the River Esk in Musselburgh are expected to peak later this afternoon. Council teams are on stand-by to respond to any challenges which emerge, and are positioned to put sandbags in place as a precautionary measure.
“This follows the issuing of a flood warning by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) for the River Esk at Musselburgh.
“Levels at other watercourses, including the River Tyne, also continue to be monitored.”
Roads teams have also been responding to reports of localised flooding and the council urges people to take extra care if travelling in and around the area.
