AN ACCIDENT has caused major delays to traffic on the A1 this afternoon.
Witnesses said that, in very wet conditions, a car came off the eastbound carriageway near Dolphinstone.
Police were made aware of the incident at about 11.55am and attended and confirmed that a single vehicle was involved in the incident, which led to lengthy tailbacks.
It is not thought that anyone was injured in the crash. The vehicle was later recovered.
