Dunbar grabbed their first win of the season as Musselburgh, Preston Lodge and Haddington all suffered defeats in last weekend's round of fixtures.

In the Tennent's Premiership, Musselburgh welcomed top of the table Hawick for the second time in two weeks.

The Burgh would push the Borderers all the way at Stoneyhill, taking a narrow 11-10 lead into the break before the league leaders ground out a 20-14 victory.

The losing bonus point was a well earned consolation for Musselburgh who now sit eight points adrift at the bottom of the table from Jed-Forest.

They travel to fourth-placed Selkirk on Saturday.

Preston Lodge crossed the border to face Berwick in Tennent's National League Division Two succumbing to a 43-26 defeat.

The opening stages of the match were hotly contested with both sides exchanging scores as Berwick took a 24-16 lead at the break.

Berwick would end PL's hopes of a comeback with two tries in a seven minute period midway through the second half.

Pollard would grab another for PL near the end but the hosts scored again on the stroke of full time to ensure a comfortable victory.

PL host Glasgow Academicals on Saturday.

In the National Shield, three county sides were supposed to be in action but only Haddington's game against East Kilbride was able to go ahead.

North Berwick were due to face Ross High in a county derby but the game was rescheduled to December 17 due to the funeral of John Tinlin, the Tranent side's president.

Haddington were knocked out after a 29-20 defeat and return to league action at home to Portobello on Saturday.

North Berwick and Ross High will also turn their focus to the league this weekend as they face each other in a top of the table clash in the Tennent's East Region League Division One.

In Tennent's East Region League Division Two, Dunbar secured their first victory of the season with a bonus point win over bottom-of-the-table Hawick Linden.

The 41-24 victory taking them within touching distance of Dalkeith and Corstorphine as they look to finally get their league campaign up and running.

They face top-of-the-table Langholm at Hallhill on Saturday.
