A CONNECTION between Dunbar and Lignieres has toasted its 28th year.

Eight representatives of Dunbar and District Twinning Association made the trip across to France, where two new communes were welcomed into the Lignieres and Dunbar Twinning. The new villages joining were Chambon, where a reception was held and a commemorative tree was planted, and Mareuil, where another reception was held.

A spokesperson for Dunbar and District Twinning Association said: “We enjoyed a visit to Chateau Du Plaix, a cheese producing goat farm and revisited Lignieres College and took over drawings from pupils at Dunbar Primary to their twinning school at Venesmes Primary and brought some back.

“Dunbar has been twinned with Lignieres for 28 years and it was delightful to meet again so many friends after a gap of three years.

“We were joined on this visit by John McMillan, Provost of East Lothian, and his wife Mary.”
